"Lexington Life Column", 2018 “Lexington Life Column” is a public art project dedicated to creating a new landmark, a unique monument to the Asheville community, showing visitors how preservation and revitalization of old buildings can create a wonderful new environment for independent establishments.
Created of stainless steel, the fifteen high column design depicts plants growing from rehabilitated old building producing pods of life. The pods are circles that can be viewed as bubbles of celebration and medals honoring the founders of the vibrant and unique community of Lexington Avenue. At the top of the column four wings, recalling tatoo parlors' aesthetic, hold hearts and hands symbolised as a "vajra" or diamond thunderbolt that is an emblem of invicibility and enlightement.
